Meeting, March 8, 2018

The versatility of a Toastmaster shows when we have absences in our membership. A small but mighty group carried out a great meeting this week. We welcomed back Carlos and Andrea and as well as a 1st time visitor, Juan Maestre. Soon our small but might group will not be so small!

Wes continued his Motvational Strategies path by sharing about “My Mentor Protege Experience”.

Rick laid out the plans for his High Performance Leadership project with District 39 Toastmasters.

Carlos showed us that you don’t have to be a seasoned Toastmaster to win Best Table Topics. Congrats to Carlos and next week we’ll welcome him as our newest member. Yeah!

Once again our club produced a great meeting with speakers and Table Topics. Bernadette handled her first assignment as Toastmaster like a veteran. Another ‘first’ for the evening was Jill giving her “Icebreaker” speach.

A very busy meeting tonight! Besides our usual 2 speakers and evaluators, tonight Wes inroduced a small change in Table Topics. He was required to have a verbal evaluation of his presentation of Table Topics based on his Active Listening skills. Even though we were a little short-handed, everyone picked it up and filled the gaps. Success!

Della’s speech on “Childhood Seizures and Epilepsy” was a personal story and was good enough to garner Best Speaker Award for tonight.

Bernadette’s Icebreaker Speech (her first at Toastmasters) was about her family’s love of water skiing. She also added some history of water skiing.

Wes gave a theme in accordance with the season and Table Topics was focused on Valentine’s Day. We had a tie for Best Table Topics Speaker between Daniel and Bernadette.

Meeting, February 1, 2018

This was an educational meeting. Our speaker, Rick Santos, presented an education module from Toastmasters’ Better Club Series: Evaluate to Motivate. This module emphasized the importance of giving positive feedback to the speaker at the same time as giving ways to improve their speaking skills.

David kept us on our toes in Table Topics matching historical figures and mythical characters with positions in life that may or may not have been suitable for them. Our objective was to support the match or not.

Meeting, January 25, 2018

What a great meeting tonight! It was our Open House and Ben Cantu, candidate for Mayor of Manteca, was our special guest speaker.

Jim Prestwood gave a Toastamonial (Toastmasters testimony) about his experience with Toastmasters.

Ben spoke about the needs of the City of Manteca and what he would do as mayor to meet those needs. 

Jim Prestwood led Table Topics giving all in attendance an opportunity to speak for a couple of minutes with only a moments notice of the topic. Roman Neri, a first-time guest at the meeting, won the Best Table Topics award. Yeah Roman!

Angela Boykins was also in attendance for the first time.

We look forward to Roman and Angela returning as members.

Jill showed her growing skills as a leader by running a smooth meaning with great transitions between speakers.

Bernadette gave her Icebreaker Speech, telling how she expects Toastmasters will help her improve her leadership and management skills for a future promotion.

David’s speech was an endorsement for Ben Cantu as Mayor of the City of Manteca.

Bernadette’s Icebreaker presentation was selected as the Best Speaker for the evening.
Renee is Best Evaluator once again.
David is showing he is one of our Best Table Topics Speakers as he wins again.

Renee gave a great speech about providing water to people in countries that do not have adequate systems to provide clean water to the people.
Rick’s love of cats was seen in his speech on determining if the Puma is a big cat or felis – domestic size cat.
Daniel showed that he is a rising star by commendeering the Best Table Topics Award from a group of veteran Toastmasters.
